ACT ONE
Three years before the events of the story, Delta Force sniper Amanda Franklin makes a split-second battlefield decision during a mission in Kandahar. Choosing not to take a potentially deadly shot because civilians may be present, Amanda inadvertently allows an enemy ambush to unfold. The attack kills Corporal Diaz, a beloved member of her unit.
Though Diaz forgives her with his dying words, Amanda never forgives herself.
Three years later, Amanda remains one of Delta Force’s most gifted operators, but the emotional weight of Diaz’s death continues to shape every decision she makes. Passed over for promotion and quietly questioned by some of her peers, Amanda struggles with faith, purpose, and her identity as the daughter of a respected California pastor.
Meanwhile, deep in the mountains of Afghanistan, two local villagers searching for treasure discover an ancient sealed cavern. Something inside awakens.
Only one man escapes.
His terrified warning is dismissed as superstition.
Until an elite American demolition team disappears without a trace.
Amanda’s Delta unit is dispatched to investigate.
Tracking the missing soldiers into the mountains, the team discovers a gruesome trail of blood, bones, and equipment leading toward an ancient cave system. Then they encounter something impossible.
